Welcome to Västgöta Nation!

Västgöta nation (VG), founded in 1639, is one of thirteen student nations at Uppsala University. The nation is home to around 1100 members and offers a wide range of activities that are rooted in Swedish culture! Västgöta nation is a great place to meet new people, study, or simply hang out when you need a break. We have something for everyone!

Whether its visiting us for our weekly soup lunches or getting involved in the nation’s activities there is always something going on at VG. We have a sports club, three choirs, and a theater group. During the semester we host lunch, a pub, and brunch that offers students a friendly and cozy place to enjoy good food and drinks for student-friendly prices. We also host traditional student dinners, gasques and balls on a regular basis. Going to a gasque with a group of new friends, learning to sing Swedish dinner songs and dancing the night away afterwards is a must for every student in Uppsala.

All our activities are run by students, for students.  Working or holding an office at the VG is a fantastic way to get involved and enjoy all that the nation has to offer! At Västgöta nation we always work according to our slogan: “Glädjen framför allt”, joy above all! Welcome to your second home in Uppsala, we can’t wait to meet you!
